FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions

Is delivery free in Portugal?
Yes, we have a warehouse in Portugal and offer free delivery throughout the country. You will not incur any taxes or fees.
What is your return policy?
While it is highly unlikely that you will consider returning your THERAFACTOR light therapy panel, we will accept returns within the first 60 days without a restocking fee. Returns are made to our French warehouse. For more information, please see the shipping and returns page.
Can I use my Red Light panel multiple times a day?
Yes, you can, but the recommendation is to wait more than 6 hours between treatments.
What times of day can I use red light therapy?
Red light therapy can be used at any time of day. The most common time is in the morning, but you can also use it before or after your workout.
What is the correct distance from the light and how long should a red light therapy session last?
What is the correct distance from the light and how long should a red light therapy session last?
Do I need to wear eye protection?
Generally, yes. If your face is positioned close to the light panel during a treatment session, eye protection is highly recommended, unless you are looking away from the panel or keeping your eyes closed.
Use the device in a well-lit room so your eyes can adjust to the light.
Can light penetrate clothes?
Near-infrared light can penetrate clothing to a certain extent, but red light cannot effectively penetrate clothing. Therefore, we generally recommend exposing clean, bare skin to the light as the usage environment permits.
Can I use my red light panel in an infrared sauna?
No, our panels are not certified for use inside the sauna.
Furthermore, phototherapy is less effective if our body is covered by a layer of sweat; a non-thermal environment is necessary according to studies associated with photobiomodulation.
Is it safe for my children?
Yes, however, as with any new treatment, consult your doctor and if approved, adult supervision is highly recommended.
Are there any contraindications? Can I use the devices for a long time?
For a detailed discussion of contraindications and other considerations, see our Articles and Science Center
Also when it comes to red light therapy...
More is not always better!
There is an inverted U-shaped response curve when it comes to red light benefits. More is not always better! The great thing about Mito Red Light devices is that you can reap the same benefits in less time compared to other products on the market.
For this reason, we recommend that you allow at least 6 hours between treatments of the same area. We recommend no more than 15 minutes in any session with panels and no more than 20 minutes in any session for flexible devices. We recommend using your device 4 to 10 times per week. We recommend taking at least one day off per week.
Can pregnant or breastfeeding women do red light therapy?
Since there is no clinical research on red light therapy treatments in pregnant or lactating women, do not use the device if you are pregnant or lactating before consulting your doctor.
What is Pulsing and what are the benefits?
What is pulsing? Rather than delivering a continuous wave of NIR, or in other words, being on all the time, pulsing is a rapid on and off feature that is not visible to the human eye. Pulse frequency refers to the interval between the NIR LED being rapidly turned on and off, this is measured and communicated in units of Hertz (Hz) or cycles per second.
What are the benefits of Pulsing? Some studies suggest that pulsed light may generate less tissue heating due to the on/off cycle per second, this technique allows the LED intensity to be increased so that the light reaches deeper depths of the tissue without causing thermal damage.
Does Pulsing Work? Prominent light therapy companies are making bold claims about the benefits of pulsing with little evidence to back it up. There is currently no agreement on whether continuous wave or pulsed light is best and what factors govern which pulse parameters to choose.
Conclusion: The real benefits of Pulsed NIR may very well be the delivery of a lower intensity/dose of light, which is more in line with the science associated with Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT). As more scientifically-based studies emerge regarding the benefits of Pulsed NIR, our ROJO light therapy panels offer the flexibility to choose continuous or pulsed NIR from 0 to 999 Hz.
What is beam angle and why does it matter?
Some LED light panel manufacturers use a wide beam angle of 90 degrees. The problem with using a beam angle that is too wide is that the power density drops off quickly with distance. The angle at which the light exits a light source is the main factor in determining how the power density drops off with distance. Wide beam angles (90 degrees) cause the power density to fade very quickly. If you are planning to use the light for a larger area (and therefore plan to sit/stand further away from the fixture), a 90 degree beam angle is typically not the best choice.
On the other hand, other light panel manufacturers may use a very narrow beam angle of 30 degrees. This design choice often requires the LEDs to be packed closer together to avoid dead spots. This can mean higher "peak" power measurements for the lights, but the devices tend to be physically smaller (due to the need for the LEDs to be closer together). Anecdotal experience with 30-degree beam angle devices is that they can be uncomfortable to even look at briefly. We find that 30-degree beam angle devices are generally less safe and less user-friendly than wider beam angle devices.
TheraFactor red light panels use a 60-degree 'sweet spot' beam angle to ensure therapeutic power density at greater distances, while maximizing usability, comfort and safety.
What is the difference between the RED and NIR spectrum?
The red spectrum (RED) is absorbed more superficially, mainly by the skin or hair. This makes it very effective in giving you a healthy, youthful appearance.
The near-infrared (NIR) spectrum can penetrate subcutaneous tissue to a depth of several centimeters. It reaches various organs, joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments or even the brain.
Should RED and NIR spectra be used together or separately?
Both are most often used together, as they work synergistically. However, it is also possible to use them separately. During nighttime therapy sessions, it is best to use the invisible NIR spectrum, which has no stimulating effect.
Are the NIR LEDs working?
Near-infrared light is beyond the visible spectrum, so you'll only see a faint glow in the center of the LED, but rest assured that it's delivering plenty of power as designed.
Do red light devices radiate heat?
Near infrared light radiates a soft, pleasant warmth.
What is the lifespan of TheraFactor devices?
Thanks to the fact that our panels boast high-quality LED technology, their lifespan is excellent: up to 50,000 hours. The recommended 30 minutes per day extends the lifespan to up to 274 years. So don’t worry!
